14 Eagles Named to the PL Men's Cross Country Academic Honor Roll

WASHINGTON - 14 members of the American University men's cross country team have been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, conference officials announced Tuesday. Senior Steve Hallinan earned the honor for the fourth time in his career while junior Jacob Shelly earned his third award and sophomore Douglas Swiatocha earned his second.

Shelly headlined the group of AU runners as one of only two PL student-athletes to achieve at least a 4.00 GPA during the fall semester. Shelly, a political science major who competed in one meet this year for AU, was also named to the honor roll as a freshman and sophomore.

Hallinan, a business administration major, was named to the PL Academic Honor Roll for the fourth time in his career with a 3.66 GPA last semester. Swiatocha earned his award as a justice major with a 3.51 GPA and was also named to the honor roll last year as a freshman.

Jason Baker (3.34, undeclared), Tim Borbet (3.57, biology), Colin Eustis (3.54, business administration), Thomas Feeney (3.46, journalism), Kris Kagan (3.55, political science), Brandon Laks (3.61, business administration), Gregory Leach (3.39, business administration), Garret Martucci (3.68, political science), Nick Ryan (3.41, undeclared), Jeremy Scheid (3.76, economics) and Andrew Veysey (3.87, environmental studies) were each named to the PL Academic Honor Roll for the first time.
 

 

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports.
